The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course is intended for site managers, project managers, supervisors, business owners and clients, operating in the construction industry.

It covers all relevant legislation affecting safe working in the building, construction, and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture within the workforce.

Course Content
  • The Health and Safety at Work Act

This is a highly interactive course taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations.

Course Requirements
  • To be able to read, write and understand English to a good level. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area
  • You will need to provide a valid ID on the first day of the course, such as a copy of your passport or driving licence
  • You must attend the full 37.5 hours of training. If you can’t attend the full course, you’ll need to enrol and take the course again. You may be charged extra to cover the costs of switching courses. You will also need to pass the exam and take part in the course exercises
Assessment and Certification
  • All delegates are required to sit the compulsory examination paper at the end of the course. The examination paper consists of 25 questions (18 multiple choice questions and 7 short written questions), the must be completed in the allotted 35 minutes.
  • Four core exercises are also carried throughout the course duration, to assess the performance and interaction of each participant within the group exercises.
  • On completion of the course and successfully passing the four core exercises, case study exercise and end-of-course examination the delegates are awarded the Construction Site Manager’s Safety Certificate, valid for five years.
  • Delegates will then need to undertake a refresher course prior to the expiry date on the certificate to obtain another five-year certificate.
In-Company Course

This course can be booked by employers to train groups of workers, you can have between 6 and 16 people on a course.
